INVITATION
Directors, Musicians, and friends of Music,
For one special day every year, America pauses to reflect on those first steps taken by the founding fathers that led to the independence and freedom that we all enjoy. Through many generations, the Fourth of July has become a tremendous celebration of America and what it means to be American. However, the American journey has experienced moments of darkness and despair. The infamous attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 was once such moment. The men and women of that generation displayed a spirit of courage, sacrifice and determination, like no other, all which led to the final victory.
It is my distinct privilege to extend to you an opportunity to acknowledge these great American veterans and to celebrate the freedoms our armed forces so selflessly fight to preserve. I invite you to join us in the beauty of Honolulu, Hawaii for the 2013 Salute to Valor Music Festival.
Our earnest ambition is to employ your talent and passion for music in honoring those who have, for the sake of their country, stood steadfast in the face of catastrophic loss. Beneath a mantle of fireworks and together with the commensurate professional musicians of the US Navy Pacific Fleet Band, we will celebrate America’s 237th birthday while performing music from America’s great music heritage.
It is our commitment to every participant to provide for them and our audiences a festival experience that is worthy of its name. Surrounded by the beauty and serenity of Hawaii, we have designed a unique choral event featuring a performance on the deck of the storied and historic USS Battleship Missouri where, fittingly, the final documents of surrender were signed to mark the end of World War Two.
Please consider participating with your ensemble in this matchless and exciting festival. Join us on the Fourth of July, 2013 as we raise our voices in song and brotherhood to resound the echo of America’s liberty!
With warm regards and great expectations,

Wesley Martin
Festival Artistic Director
